The newest in skin resurfacing and skin tightening technology. NeoGen PSR technology delivers controlled heating to the skin architecture to stimulate significant collagen production and elastin restructuring to smooth and tighten the skin, without creating an open wound like traditional resurfacing. Improves overall skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, tightens upper and lower eyelids, and improves acne scarring. Depending on depth, expect 5-7 days of redness and peeling.
What is NeoGen Plasma Resurfacing?
NeoGen is a clinically-proven treatment for rejuvenation. This device uses plasma energy to treat 100 percent of the skin to replace damaged tissue with healthy skin.
When nitrogen gas is excited, plasma energy can be derived from it. This plasma energy is then used to regenerate the skin. Frequently used for:
- Mild to severe wrinkles
- Scars, including acne scars
- Loose, sagging skin
- Hyperpigmentation
- Sun Damage
- Uneven skin tone and texture
- Eyelids
NeoGen is a non-contact treatment that may be used on low or high energy, depending on the severity of the blemishes or signs of aging.
What to expect during your Neogen PSR treatment:
After a thorough explanation of post treatment expectations and instructions, a topical numbing cream will be applied. You will numb for 1 hour. Most patients do well with just the topical. Neogen is our most comfortable resurfacing treatment.
Immediately prior to treatment, your topical numbing will be removed and the skin will be wiped clean. At Skin Appeal, we enhance your Neogen treatment with a photofacial BBL to optimize results. For the BBL, ultrasound gel will be applied and the BBL will snap on the skin like a rubberband. The ultrasound gel will then be removed and the Neogen treatment will begin. Neogen PSR feels like a light heat snap on the skin. After the treatment, you will feel like you have a sunburn for about 2 hours and there is no discomfort beyond this.
Downtime:
The Neogen PSR treatment focuses energy on the deeper collagen layer of skin leaving the surface of your skin largely intact for a quicker healing time. It delivers the results of an ablative procedure with less downtime and discomfort. The outer surface of skin will be very delicate for ~4 days and requires gentle dabbing of Vaseline to keep it intact. There is no discomfort unless the skin is removed. The skin will exfoliate off as the new skin underneath is regenerated. Healing time is usually 4-7 days.
The recovery after Neogen PSR is minimal compared to other resurfacing lasers due to the state of art technology and the inclusion of medical grade post procedure care products. The intensity of the treatment ultimately determines the amount of downtime.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Following one NeoGen resurfacing treatment, most patients reported achieving results that lasted up to two years. Some patients need multiple treatments to see the desired results. This is an incredible accomplishment for a treatment that usually takes less than an hour to perform. Smaller areas, such as the eyelids, may take as little as 10 minutes. The recovery time necessary varies depending on the strength of the treatment and how much skin surface was treated.
For long-term results and skin maintenance, a proper skin care regimen is necessary to protect from UV damage, stimulate collagen production and encourage natural exfoliation. Pair any of our treatments with Mikel Kristi Skin Care for optimal long-term results and anti-aging.
