All About Exosomes
By: Yoko McCall LE, CLT
If you ask for anything during your next resurfacing appointment, it should be EXOSOMES.

What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are small, membrane-bound vesicles that are secreted by various types of cells in the body. They play a crucial role in cell-to-cell communication. Exosomes contain a variety of molecules, including proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, which can be transferred from one cell to another. This transfer of information can influence various biological processes, such as immune response regulation, tissue repair, and the spread of disease.

How do they benefit you when combined with skin rejuvenation treatments?
- Anti-Aging: Exosomes derived from stem cells or other sources contain growth factors and other signaling molecules that can stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Skin Repair: Exosomes can promote tissue repair by enhancing the skin’s natural regenerative processes. They may assist in healing wounds, scars, and damaged skin.
- Hair Growth: Preclinical studies demonstrate clear benefits of exosome therapeutics in regenerative medicine and for hair loss treatment.
- Moisturization: Exosomes can contribute to skin hydration by promoting the production of hyaluronic acid, a molecule that helps retain moisture in the skin.
- Reduction of Inflammation: Exosomes may have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be beneficial for individuals with skin conditions characterized by inflammation, such as rosacea or eczema.
At Skin Appeal, we offer BENEV Regenerative Complex + Skin and Scalp Serum. Whilst Exosomes are not yet FDA approved, BENEV, is the only company to have successfully completed the demanding INCI regulatory process, allowing them to list “Human Adipose Stromal Cell Exosomes” as an ingredient in their exosome products.
