Downtime

For a CoolPeel light or superficial peel, there is minimal downtime, with only mild redness or sensitivity that typically subsides within a few hours to a day. Most patients can return to their regular activities immediately or the next day.

The downtime for a Deka Peel depends on the depth of the treatment. A medium peel may cause slight to moderate redness and peeling for 3 to 5 days, with mild swelling or discomfort during the first 1 to 2 days. For a deep peel, recovery takes longer, with redness, peeling, and potential swelling lasting up to 7 to 10 days. During this time, scabbing may occur, and careful aftercare is essential. Full recovery for deeper peels can take 1 to 2 weeks. The exact downtime varies based on the treatment intensity and individual skin responses, and your provider will offer specific post-care instructions to help ensure optimal healing and results.

How often should I get a CoolPeel or Deka Peel

For CoolPeel light or superficial peels, they can typically be done every 4 to 6 weeks, as the recovery time is minimal, and the treatment mainly targets surface-level concerns like fine lines, minor pigmentation, or uneven skin texture.

The frequency of Deka Peel treatments depends on the type of peel and your skin’s needs.

For medium or deep peels, treatments sessions are recommended every 2 to 6 months. These peels address more significant skin concerns like deep wrinkles, acne scars, or sun damage, and allow more time for the skin to heal and regenerate between treatments.

Your provider will tailor the frequency based on your skin condition, goals, and the specific type of Deka Peel you’re receiving. They’ll also help determine the best treatment plan for achieving and maintaining the results you desire.

What to expect

A Deka Peel can cause some discomfort, but the level of pain typically depends on the depth of the peel. For CoolPeel light or superficial peels, most patients report only mild sensations, such as a slight warming or tingling, which are usually tolerable and short-lived. For medium or deep peels, there may be more noticeable discomfort. Some patients experience a stinging or burning feeling during the treatment, especially if the peel penetrates deeper into the skin. To minimize discomfort, topical numbing creams will be applied before the procedure. After the treatment, there may be some tenderness, redness, or sensitivity in the treated area, but these side effects usually resolve within a few hours to a few days, depending on the peel’s intensity.

Is a CoolPeel or Deka Peel painful

Numbing cream is applied before a Deka Peel, especially for medium to deep peels, to help minimize discomfort during the treatment. For lighter peels, numbing may not be necessary, as the discomfort is usually minimal. However, your provider will assess your comfort level and discuss pain management options to ensure you have a comfortable experience.

What results should I expect?

With a  CoolPeel or Deka Peel, you can expect a range of results depending on the depth of the treatment and the specific concerns being addressed.

For CoolPeel light or superficial peels, you’ll likely notice improvements in skin texture, a reduction in fine lines, and an overall brighter, more even complexion. These peels help to exfoliate the surface of the skin, improving the appearance of sunspots, mild pigmentation, and dullness.

For medium or deep peels, the results can be more dramatic. You can expect to see a reduction in deeper wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage. The peel stimulates collagen production, leading to firmer, smoother skin. Over time, the texture of your skin will improve, and you’ll notice a more youthful, radiant appearance.

Results are typically visible after a few days to a week, with continued improvements as the skin regenerates over the following weeks and months. For long-lasting effects, multiple treatments may be necessary, and maintenance sessions can help sustain the improvements achieved. Your provider will discuss the expected results based on your specific skin concerns and treatment plan.
